Krista Dewey
Director / Deputy Registrar General, Vital Statistics, Province of Nova Scotia

In 1987, Krista obtained a Bachelor Degree in Arts from Mount Allison University. In 1989, she graduated from Dalhousie University with a Master Degree in Public Administration.Her working career began as Town Clerk for the Town of Riverview, New Brunswick where she worked for four years. In 1994, she joined the Municipality of East Hants as an Administrative Officer. Krista worked with East Hants in various capacities until 2008 at which time she held the position of Director of Administration.In 2008, she joined Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations as Manager / Assistant Deputy Registrar for Vital Statistics. In 2015, Krista accepted the position of Director / Deputy Registrar General for Vital Statistics. In this capacity, Krista is responsible for the collection, recording and sharing of foundational identity information used to establish eligibility for programs and services at the provincial and federal levels.
In September 2018, Krista accepted the role of Co-Chair for the Vital Statistics Council for Canada (VSCC) which she will hold for the next two years. This Council is comprised of Vital Event Registrars from every Canadian jurisdiction and Statistics Canada.
