Sophia Howse

Sophia Howse has over 30 years of experience working in the BC Provincial Government and is currently the Executive Director of the Government of British Columbia’s Provincial Identity Management Program (IDIM). Her work in various provincial ministries has primarily focused on successfully leading large-scale change initiatives, where she has been recognized for her collaborative nature, big picture thinking and ability to deliver results. In her current role, Sophia has been leading IDIM in realizing its mandate over the last 3.5 years: to deliver secure and privacy-enhancing identity services to citizens and businesses and to support access to government services and information. Particularly noteworthy, is Sophia’s key role as the Executive lead in the on-going roll-out of the BC Services Card, an advanced and highly-secure identity solution for accessing government services. Sophia enjoys challenging herself mentally and physically. In September 2017 she completed the 75km West Coast Trail hike – rated as one of the top 10 most difficult hikes in the world.
